The 80s

The 80s were a radical change in many ways. From culture to fashion, through the vision of politics and the evolution of the “pop” concept. Technical and electronic advances contributed to all this, at least musically, converting the orchestras so used in disco music or with crooners to a much cheaper way of production.

Regarding the musical and aesthetic movements that emerged during the 1980s, variety is worth highlighting above all else. Although neon lights, synthesizers, bouffant hair and shoulder pads have remained common in the collective memory, there was also room for other less fanciful styles, but equally tacky. Because, if there is something that is clear here, it is that. Color, whether it was cheap tracksuits or expensive suits, was always present among the population.

The drug was increasingly present in our society. If in the 60s and 70s it was the singers who died from excesses with alcohol and other more psychedelic drugs, it was in the 80s when cocaine and ecstasy reached many corners of the world, causing devastating damage to entire families. However, what has remained is happiness: the music videos broadcast by MTV (whose broadcast began on August 1, 1981 in the United States) and the very crazy aesthetics of Duran Duran.

All of this seems fine to us. Personally, I lived 3 years in the 80s and I have no recollection of that time. In fact, the 90s did not seem very exciting to me in terms of nostalgia either, but that does not mean that they have left us a number of films and songs worthy of mention, recommendation and recovery for all of us who have not had the chance to experience it in its moment.
